WELCOME to the Catonsville Stars Cheerleading Program!
Catonsville Stars Cheerleading is a youth organization within Baltimore County Parks and Recreation. We are a non-profit organization run strictly by volunteers. Our program accepts children ages 5-14. The Catonsville Stars Cheerleading program cheers for the Catonsville Stars Football program also a non-profit program ran strictly by volunteers.
Our program will begin in early August and end in mid to late November. Our Registration cost will vary for different ages. Please see the below information for Registration costs and what it includes.
Walk-In Registration
We will have walk in registration on Friday June 13 from 6 to 7:30PM at the Bloomsbury Center and Thursday July 17th from 6 to 7:30PM.
Summer Clinic
The clinic will be held July 14 - July 18 from 6 - 8 PM at the Bloomsbury Center. Ages 5 - 14 are welcomed to participate. Registration costs are $45 per participant or $35 per participant for a family of 2 or more.
Participants will learn cheers, dances and stunting from experienced cheerleaders and coaches. To register please download the Summer Clinic Registration
form and mail that with payment attached to Catonsville Stars Cheerleading, 512 Kent Avenue, Catonsville, MD 21228. All checks should be made payable to Catonsville Parks & Recreation.

There will be an additional fee of $55 due at the first practice for ages 7 & up for cheer shoes. This fee is not optional and all cheerleading shoes will be purchased through Catonsville Stars Cheerleading. If you are a returning cheerleader and will not need new cheer shoes please let me know at the first practice.
Registration fees as well as fundraisers help to refurbish the cost of uniforms, competition fees and other necessities to the program. All fees are due at the time of registration.
In addition to our registration fees there will be an optional fundraiser for the season. As a fundraiser this year we have opted to do Joe Corbis Pizza. We have found in the past that this is a very successful and profitable fundraiser.
You will also have the option to purchase additional apparel from the Stars such as t-shirts, sweatshirts and jackets. These orders will also be available at a later date.
Please be sure to read the HOME page Welcome Letter and Introduction Letter for all necessary team information. The letter has been put together to help everyone understand the program and what is expected out of each family.

The Catonsville Stars Cheerleading Program will begin on Wednesday August 6, 2008. Our practices will be held every Wednesday and Thursday evening from 6-8 PM at the Bloomsbury Center on Bloomsbury Avenue. In addition to practices our program will be cheering for the Catonsville Stars Football Program. Our games are held on Friday evenings and Saturday’s. These games will require some short distance travel; therefore it is your responsibility to provide transportation to and from these games for your Cheerleader. We will begin cheering at these games in early September. These games are a mandatory part of our program and each cheerleader must attend the majority of her games. We will also begin participating in a yearly competition in which we will be competing against other recreation teams. This competition will be taking place in early November and will be held locally.
We will be holding a mandatory parents meeting on Wednesday August 6, 2008 (the first night of practice) at 6:30 PM to give more information on the upcoming season. Full refunds will be given until the fist night of practice thereafter partial refunds will be given based on what has been purchased for the season.
In order for your child to participate in our program we will be requiring them to have a Maryland Photo ID in which we will hold for the season and return to you at the completion of our program. Information on purchasing this ID can be found on the MVA webpage. We also require a Medical consent form to be filled out and signed by your cheerleaders’ physician. These forms are due to us on the first night of practice.
Due to the many years of problems with unreturned uniforms we unfortunately have had to implement a new program. In order to participate in the program and receive a uniform for the season each family must write a check in the amount of $150 which will not be cashed unless the uniform is not returned at the end of the season. If the uniform is not returned by a given date at the end of the season and we have not been contacted by you as to when you will be returning the uniform within a reasonable amount of time we will deposit the check to cover the cost of purchasing a new uniform. We are not implementing this program to hurt anyone and hope that we will not have to cash any of these checks but we must protect our program and our uniforms.
All forms must be completed and returned to us on the first night of practice with the exception of the Registration Form which is due to us at the time of registration. The registration fee is also due at the time of registration.

Registration
Registration forms for the Catonsville Stars Cheerleading Program can be downloaded by clicking HERE. Please read through the following information before registering your child. Make sure that this program sounds like something that you will be able to commit to and that your child will enjoy. Unfortunately due to the fact that we must order all necessary cheer merchandise at the beginning of the season refunds for merchandise will not be available after the first practice. Refunds for your child?s participation will not be available after the second week of practices. Once again we do understand that situations arise and note that for special circumstances refunds will be given.
Squads
The Catonsville Stars Cheerleading program is broken into a number of squads dictated by age groups. We hope to have 6 different squads but are sometimes unable to due to the lack of coaching staff. Our expected age groups will be 5-7, 7-9, 8-10, 9-11, 10-12 and 11-14. Your cheerleader will be placed in the appropriate group dictated by age and prior cheer experience. We are unable to place any cheerleader in an inappropriate age group regardless of experience.
Practices
Catonsville Stars Cheerleading will practice every Wednesday and Thursday evening from 6-8 PM at the Bloomsbury Recreation Center located on Bloomsbury Avenue beginning August 6, 2008. If you decide you would like to be a part of Catonsville Stars Cheerleading please understand that practices are not voluntary. We expect that each cheerleader will give her all at each practice and will attend the majority of practices. We understand the occasional need to miss a practice but hope it does not become a habit.
Games
Catonsville Stars Cheerleading cheers at weekend games for the Catonsville Stars Football teams. Games are usually held on Saturday’s but may include an occasional Friday evening game depending on the availability of fields within the Football organization. We expect that each cheerleader will attend these games on a weekly basis. Again we understand the need to miss an occasional game but hope that it does not become a habit. We will begin cheering at games in early September.
Competition
Catonsville Stars Cheerleading attends an annual local competition. All of our age groups participate in this competition. We will be competing against other park and recreation cheerleading teams within the Maryland Football and Cheerleading Association. All cheerleaders are expected to participate in this competition. If you feel your cheerleader will not be able to compete please let us know in the beginning of the season. Each cheerleader will begin to learn the routine for competition early in the season. Competition is usually held in early November.
Paperwork
In order to be a part of the Catonsville Stars Cheerleading program there are a few necessary items that we must collect from you. The registration form & fee are due at the time you register your cheerleader. The following forms are due at the first practice:
• Cheerleader Information Card
• A Maryland State ID card
• A medical release form filled out by child?s doctor
Fundraiser
We will also be having an optional fundraiser for the program. This year the fundraiser will be Joe Corbis. We will be beginning this fundraiser at the start of the season and we hope that everyone will be willing to participate.
Mandatory Parents Meeting
This year we will be hosting a mandatory parents meeting on August 6, 2008 (first practice) in the Auditorium at the Bloomsbury Center. This meeting is where you will turn in the remainder of your necessary information to us and your cheerleader will be sized for the merchandise that you have paid for. During this time we will be giving out any further information that you should receive and will be telling you which squad your cheerleader will be on and who the coaches will be. Again the remainder of your paperwork is due at this time. If you do not contact us and you do not attend we will assume that you and your cheerleader are not interested in participating in our program.
